new tough ruffles

just listed a new batch of tough ruffles shoulder bags in my etsy shop. they all have a flap, with a magnetic snap closure underneath, and a large exterior slip pocket under the flap. there are three shades available: blue-grey, cocoa brown, and blue with deep navy.

as an extra thank you, and to celebrate the new year, i am offering FREE DOMESTIC SHIPPING now through sunday january 2nd at midnight EST. hope everyone is enjoying their holiday season!

just listed a few new shoulder bags in my etsy shop. all of the bags are in stock and ready to ship! i will continue to list new items this week as i am able to, and will still be shipping right away. if you happen to place an order this evening (sunday), it will ship first thing tomorrow (monday) morning, via USPS priority mail. if you would like to upgrade to USPS express shipping, i am happy to do so. please be aware that USPS changes their refund policy for express shipping between december 22-december 25th. if you would like express shipping, i will only charge you the actual difference in price (probably about $25-$30, as opposed to $8 for priority shipping). you can either leave a note in the message to seller box when you check out, or contact me at madebyhank@gmail.com and i will send you an invoice for the difference.

**a quick note about holiday shipping: i live one block from the nearest post office, and through december 24th i will be shipping all orders right away. hey there. sorry things have been so quiet around here and the shop lately. my friend kat and i are having a show at sweet jane vintage this month. kat makes paintings, i make stitchings, and we have both been working around the clock to finish these pieces during the busiest time of year. if you happen to be in philadelphia, stop by the opening and see what we have been up to.

we hung the show last night, so i am back to hank-ing up a storm now, and am hoping to have a new set of bags in the shop on monday, possibly sooner. many of you have requested the tough ruffles shoulder bags in smaller sizes, so that is what i will be focused on.

i just added some of the zipper purses, as well as one patricia bag to my etsy shop. it has been quite a while since i have sold items through etsy, and i have been going back and forth about which shop to keep and which to close (etsy vs. bigcartel), or if i should have both open at once. i am going to have both open for the time being, and once i finish up the existing orders that i am behind on, i will add new items to the etsy shop. i have had mixed reactions from customers, so here id your platform to help me decide. which of my shops do you prefer-- etsy or bigcartel, and why?

the 24-hour tote project

do you know about tim gough and greg pizzoli? well, they are two super talented dudes who make really good art. they had a show together recently at masthead print studio. they made five collaboration prints together, and printed one of the images onto t-shirts. when tim was printing them, he also printed a few panels of fabric, which i stitched into a small batch of tote bags. there were only six made, and three of them are now available (in turquoise, brown with black, and brown with charcoal) in tim's shop.

they each feature the collaborative print titled indestructible life on the front, with mixed canvases and denims. they have an exterior slip pocket on the back, finished with a wooden MADEBYHANK button. lined with cream and black graph check print heavy cotton, with one slip pocket, a small clip, and an antique brass finish magnetic snap set into a small repurposed suede detail.

a few of you inquired about missing out on the black and white graphic print shoulder bags that i listed last week, and i just wanted to give a heads-up that i was able to make two more. so if you were interested, they are available here.

a backpack and a happy hump day sale

a while back, i made a giant backpack for my friend joanna. she went on a small adventure to a few spots on the west coast so we worked out a trade and i made this crazy backpack for her. she gave me the canvas and the burlap that i used for the ruffles, and i worked in some stripes and a few other details, and this is the result.

two new tough ruffle shoulder bags available here and here. both have repurposed leather straps, doubled over and twice topstitched. i am really happy with how the straps turned out, the leather is soft and perfect for resting comfortably on hard-working shoulders.
