G I V E A W A Y ! !

it took me a bit longer than i had hoped to put this together, but here it is! the thank-you-for-being-awesome giveaway!
to celebrate the new year (and how great you all are!) i wanted to say thank you with a giveaway. i made eleven (because it's twenty-eleven) different zipper purses, which means there will be eleven different winners.

to enter, simply leave a comment on this post. tell me about one of your new year's resolutions, or your pet's name, or what you would like to see in the madebyhank shop this year. say whatever you want, so long as it is not mean. because, well, who wants to give a gift to a meanie? not me!

eleven winners will be selected at random. the first name chosen will receive zipper purse #1, the second will receive #2, and so on.

anyone and everyone is welcome to enter, the only requirements are that you are a human and that you provide a way for me to contact you in the event you should win. please leave your comments here before next friday january 21st 2011 at midnight EST.

winners will be announced on this blog monday january 24th. tell your friends! and good luck!

xo, hank.

Katie, you are amazing for hosting such a lovely giveaway!!

one of my new year's resolutions is to take better care of myself. towards the end of 2010, i started to get overwhelmed with work and didn't find work-life balance at all. i ended up forgetting to eat meals (i'd maybe eat a meal and a half a day) because i became so consumed in my work. by the time Christmas rolled around, i had lost quite a bit of weight, was constantly tired and no longer had much motivation to keep up with work.

starting on january 1, 2011, i have started to plan meals early, making sure that i make time to eat properly. i've also started going to the gym regularly to take better care of my body. as a recovering mcdonald's addict (haha, i used to eat this stuff 3 times a week!), i'm trying to cut down to once a month. so far so good!

These are beautiful, Katie! I've been following you for a while here and though I don't have a big collection, I love, love my small crossbody bag (with the beautiful crochet doily!).

I would love to see more small shoulder/crossbody bags, and also the vintage appliques you do so beautifully (like in zipper purses 2 & 7).

I also really appreciate the new styles you do and the glimpses we get of your stitched drawings, because your creativity and talent is utterly amazing!

Hi Katie! Well I feel a little guilty for entering your giveaway as I am fortunate enough to have several of your amazing creations, however, I find my hank appetite only increases with time - so I hereby shamelessly enter your sweet giveaway.

My dog's name is Gracie, which is odd because she is often grace-less... running into walls, patio doors, legs, pretty much anything that's between her and the place she is headed with much haste. And every time it happens she looks at us like it was our fault :)

Eleven Things, for Twenty-Eleven :)
1. I didn't make a new years resolution, because I always end up forgetting it by the end of the first week!
2. I have two rabbits, Thumper and Cotton. Thumper used to be sweet, but he has learned how to hop on the couch to beg for food. Cotton used to be a rascal, but he has gone all soft.
3. I miss the appliqued purses from waaaaaay back at the beginning when I first hearted your Etsy shop (kinda like zipper pouch 7 or like this: http://www.etsy.com/transaction/12397159) -- Not to say I don't love love love the three bags I have! BUT I vote to bring back the applique for a bit :)
4. I bought zipper pouches for my sister and sister-in-law for Christmas, and they loved them! (although I was kinda hoping they wouldn't, even though I knew they would, but if they didn't, then I could have kept them...)
5. Everytime my good friend compliments me on my new bag... It's a made by hank bag! I told her she need to stalk your shop.
6. I love the way you photograph your bags -- having a consistent style is key.
7. I really don't want to go work on report cards right now (sorry, that is totally random)
8. Also, I like the couple purses you did with the stitch-pictures of rabbits and such. Those were lovely. Wish I could have snagged one of those...
9. Gosh, I think I ran out of things to say.
10. Umm...
11. Oh yeah! I hope I win, 'cause my birthday is the last day to enter... January 21st! And that would be a perfect birthday present!

I'd love to see some larger (maybe even oversized!) tough ruffles bags in spring colors (pinks, light blues, purples). I remember you made a handful of these back in mid April of last year and they sold so quickly.

Oh my those purses are quite lovely, I really do hope I win one. I have a 6 month old Chi-poo named Grizzly. My boyfriend says he has UGG boots on, because his paws have so much crinkly fur. He has a toothy, under-bite kind of a smile, and I love him!

Everything you do is fantastic, and I always dream of owning a madebyhank. Once my financial situation improves, I will surely buy a shoulder bag!

My resolution is to use re-usable bags for grocery shopping. So far, so good! Maybe I'll have to get a nice Madebyhank tote for shopping :-)

Yay for giveaways! I'm not big on New Year's resolutions (because I always forget about them), but I HAVE been trying to adopt better eating and exercise habits since after Christmas. I think it was the Christmas dinner turkey-hangover that did me in. Surprisingly, I'm on week 3 of attending a great aerobics class (did you know Jazzercise is still around? It totally is, and it's awesome), and I actually look forward to going several times a week. This is big for me. So far, 2011 is feeling good!

This is really neat!

I don't have any pets, but if I did, I would have a cat, and I would name him (or her!) Han Solo. Because he's the best character in Star Wars!

Keep being awesome Katie!!

I love your purses, they're totally adorable and I would love to keep my plastic elephant in one because elephants are awesome too and that would just be double awesome.

My cat is called Hardy. His brother was Laurel. Ha ha. :) I also have a cockatiel called Harry. He's pretty noisy.

All the best for 2011, I look forward to following your blog and seeing what you get up to!

I resolved to live my life based on my two favorite quotes:

"...if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavours to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours."
~Henry David Thoreau

"The stotan must be willing to stand on his own, to resist pain, to stick to his ideals. A stotan is quietly self-sufficient. He accepts the challenges of training, injuries, races, and disappointments without complaining, because he understands that simply by keeping on, by sticking to the path he has chosen, he will get stronger and better."

Yay! Thank you so much for having a give-away! I am such a huge fan of all of your work :) The bags, clutches, totes, wallets -everything!- I have that you have made are some of my most favorite hand-made treasures. You mentioned that we could write about something we would like to see in your shop... I have a soft spot for the cute little purses/clutches you used to make that had animals (a bunny or a horse) hand-stitched onto them. They were so adorable, and I would love to see them back in your shop! (And of course, I would try to buy one!) Thank you, and keep up the beautiful work!
